The Beekeeping Research Institute produces Amitraz solution in concentration 125 mg/l, which is used as an insecticide. ARION® Plus C18 shows much less contamination by final product, which includes a heavy matrix (aromatic naphtha fraction). Even after many analyses the chromatogram shows a peak with a high symmetry/tailing factor (1.019).
ABSTRACT
Determination of amitraz (CAS 33089-61-1) in the Varidol preparation on an ARION® Plus C18, 5 µm column (250 mm × 4.6 mm, ARI-5720-LM46). Isocratic elution with ACN/water 90/10 (v/v) at 1.0 ml/min, ambient temperature and UV detection at 310 nm. The analyte elutes at about 8.3 minutes with a symmetry/tailing factor of 1.019 even after many injections of the heavy naphtha matrix. The note shows a 50 mg/l standard, a real sample and a calibration curve (Y = 27.57139*X, correlation coefficient 0.9999955).
